Signs your period is coming back

Signs your first recovery period from hypothalamic amenorrhea/eating disorder is on it's way, including signs of ovulation!

Everyone is different but here are a few signs and symptoms to look out for, which could indicate your recovery period is round the corner!

Libido is increasing

So your sex drive now usually with low oestrogen and amenorrhea is potentially low. Therefore that's a really great sign if you're getting that back and it's ramping back up.

Cervical mucus changes

You might see little changes throughout your recovery and an increase in cervical

mucus the more estrogen is present.

You might even see that your cervical mucus change to a consistency that looks like you're ovulating but goes on for a while and you don't actually ovulate. This is where your body tries to ovulate, but doesn't quite make it, but shows you are heading in the right direction.

What we're looking out for is it will go to a consistency that potentially is like lotion like, and then maybe even very fertile would be your stretchy, egg white cervical mucus that you're looking out for around ovulation.

Now remember, everyone is different and some people have a lot of cervical

mucus, some people have hardly any, which makes it hard to tell, but it's

something to look out for and know you're on the right track to get

in your period.

You can also check out your cervical position if you like to see if you've ovulated/close to ovulation. The cervix rises up when you're ovulating and then it will be quite low when you're not ovulating.

You also might want to check your basal body temperature, which is a great indication of ovulation. Once you can confirm you have ovulated, you know your period should come between 10-14 days (or you are pregnant!)

Sore boobs

Due to the rise in estrogen, you may find that you have sore boobs around ovulation time, through to your period.

Hips widening

Another thing to show that you're kind of on the right track could be that your hips are widening, which is quite a weird thing to say, but that is due again to the estrogen, which is making our hips bigger.

Constipation

This can happen due to the progesterone rising in the second half of the cycle after ovulation, which can make you constipated just before your period.

And then on the flip side of that, once you've actually got your period, you can experience the opposite due to prostaglandins, which help with muscle contractions.

Yeast infections

This is a random one, but because your hormones are fluctuating throughout the cycle, this can mean it can disrupt your PH level in your vagina, which gives you these yeast

infections just before your period. If this happens all the time though, you should look further into this.
